The IRP 300~1200 is a high-power wire wound metal clad resistor series engineered for industrial motor control, power electronics, and electric vehicle charging applications where power dissipation requirements exceed what standard single-element resistors can deliver. Available in six models from IRP300 through to IRP1200, the series spans heatsink-rated power from 300W to 1200W — making it one of the highest-power single-body metal clad resistor families in the RMS range.
Each model is housed in a large extruded aluminium body that provides strong mechanical protection and serves as an integrated heatsink when bolted firmly to a chassis or heatsink surface. The generous contact area of the aluminium base enables effective thermal transfer even under sustained full-power loading, making the IRP series well suited to continuous duty motor braking, load bank, and discharge resistor applications where the resistor must handle repetitive or prolonged high-energy cycles reliably over its service life.
Both inductive and non-inductive winding configurations are offered across the entire range. The non-inductive option is important for snubber networks and high-frequency switching applications where residual winding inductance would degrade transient suppression performance. The resistance range spans 0.1Ω to 2.0kΩ for inductive models and 0.1Ω to 1.0kΩ for non-inductive models, with tolerance options of ±1%, ±5%, and ±10% covering the majority of industrial power and current-limiting specifications.
Dielectric withstand voltage is rated at AC 2500V (1 minute, maximum 5mA leakage current), and insulation resistance is 100MΩ at 500Vdc — suitable for medium-voltage industrial bus architectures. Heat resistance testing at 180°C for 2 hours, combined with a TCR of ±260 ppm/°C maximum, confirms stable and predictable electrical performance across the demanding thermal environments encountered in motor control enclosures and power electronics installations.
