What are the LFH 300W to 2000W Series Metal Clad Resistors?
The LFH 300~2000 is a heavy-duty horizontal-mount wire wound metal clad resistor series designed for the most demanding high-power industrial applications. Spanning nine models from LFH 300 through to LFH 2000, the series covers heatsink-rated power dissipation from 300W to 2000W — making it the highest continuous power rating available in the RMS metal clad resistor range, and one of the most capable single-body resistor families suited to sustained industrial duty.
Each model is built around a wide-profile extruded aluminium housing that provides rugged mechanical protection and functions as a high-performance heatsink when bolted to a chassis or external heatsink surface. The generous mounting footprint of the LFH series facilitates excellent thermal transfer even at full rated power, enabling the resistor to handle the sustained or repetitive high-energy loading cycles encountered in motor drive braking, load bank, and EV charging applications without thermal runaway or premature degradation.
Two termination options are offered across the range: a standard tab terminal configuration and a wire termination option (suffix W, 300mm standard lead length), giving installers the flexibility to select the connection method best suited to their panel wiring and cable management requirements. Both inductive and non-inductive winding configurations are available, with the non-inductive option essential for snubber and switching applications where residual winding inductance would impair high-frequency transient suppression performance.
The resistance range spans 0.1Ω to 7.0kΩ for inductive models and 0.1Ω to 3.0kΩ for non-inductive models depending on the power rating, with tolerance options of ±1%, ±5%, and ±10% — covering general industrial load control through to defined discharge timing specifications. Dielectric withstand voltage is rated at AC 2500V (1 minute, maximum 5mA leakage current), insulation resistance is 100MΩ at 500Vdc, and heat resistance testing is conducted at 180°C for 2 hours — confirming suitability for high-voltage bus architectures and elevated ambient temperature installations. The TCR of ±260 ppm/°C maximum ensures predictable and stable resistance across the full operating temperature range.
