What are the RA 80W to 750W Series Metal Clad Resistor Assemblies?
The RA series is a family of high-power metal clad wire wound resistor assemblies purpose-designed for use in power inverters, motor drives, and other demanding industrial power electronics applications. Unlike a bare chassis-mount resistor, each RA assembly takes a proven IRH or IRV metal clad resistor core and encloses it within a powder-coated, oven-baked steel outer case — creating a self-contained, mechanically protected unit that conforms to international safety specifications and requires no additional guarding or enclosure in most installation environments.
The steel enclosure is robustly constructed and finished for durability, protecting the internal resistor element from mechanical damage, contamination, and accidental contact during installation and service. This makes the RA series particularly well suited to panel-build environments, power inverter cabinets, and industrial drive enclosures where assembly safety and compliance requirements demand that live resistive components are fully shrouded.
The resistance range spans 0.1Ω to 6.8kΩ for inductive models and 0.1Ω to 3kΩ for non-inductive models depending on the base resistor, with tolerance options of ±0.5%, ±1%, ±2%, ±5%, and ±10% available across the full range. The operating temperature range of –55°C to +200°C and a TCR of ±260 ppm/°C maximum ensure stable, predictable resistance across the full spectrum of industrial ambient conditions.
