What are the GG102 Series Squaristor Precision Wire Wound Resistors?

The GG102 is a precision wire wound resistor in the Squaristor radial leaded series, engineered to deliver ultra-high resistance accuracy and exceptional long-term stability across temperature and time. The defining physical characteristic of the GG102 is its radial leaded through-hole package, which differentiates it from the axial leaded Mini-Ohm and Econistor series in the same precision family. Radial pitch leads allow the GG102 to be mounted vertically on a PCB, minimising the footprint occupied by each component and making the series particularly well suited to dense board layouts where axial resistors would demand excessive track length between pads. The compact square body that gives the series its Squaristor name accommodates the precision winding while keeping the overall component volume small.

With tolerances of ±0.01% and ±0.1% and a TCR of 3 ppm/°C, the GG102 sits within RARA Electronics’ highest-accuracy wire wound tier alongside the 5G10 Mini-Ohm and 8G16/8G24 Econistor series. The resistance range extends from 10Ω to 250kΩ, covering the great majority of precision signal-level circuit requirements in a single series. Construction uses the highest quality copper alloy wire drawn from melts of known resistivity and tightly controlled temperature coefficients, with windings configured in a balanced multiple-π arrangement that minimises self-inductance and keeps reactive impedance negligible in DC and low-frequency precision circuits. The result is excellent noise levels and initial calibration accuracy that is maintained over the full service lifetime of the component.

Long-term stability under load is a primary specification of the GG102 series. RARA precision wire wound resistors are engineered for extended load life, maintaining resistance values within the specified tolerance across thousands of hours of continuous operation — not merely at the point of initial measurement. This makes the GG102 appropriate for any application where the resistor will be subjected to continuous power dissipation and where drift over the service lifetime of the equipment would require recalibration or field replacement. The 0.3W continuous power rating of the GG102D model is adequate for signal-level measurement, feedback, and reference divider applications across the full resistance range.

Custom resistance values across the full range can be produced to order with a minimum quantity of ten pieces for non-standard parts. All leads are tinned copper, ensuring straightforward compatibility with standard PCB soldering processes. RARA Electronics holds ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certifications, and the GG102 is manufactured to the same quality standards relied upon by major industrial, instrumentation, and metrology customers globally, including Toshiba, Siemens, Rockwell, LG, and Schneider Electric.

Applications of the GG102 Series Squaristor Precision Wire Wound Resistors

Where RARA precision resistors are deployed in the field.

Precision test and measurement instrumentation — resistance decade boxes, LCR meters, precision bridges, and parameter analysers where the compact radial package allows more resistance elements to be accommodated within a given board area without compromising accuracy or stability
Calibration equipment and reference resistance standards — secondary reference resistors and transfer standards in calibration laboratories where ±0.01% tolerance and 3 ppm/°C TCR provide traceability to national metrology standards with minimal uncertainty contribution from the reference component itself
Dense PCB precision circuits — instrumentation amplifier networks, precision attenuator ladders, and multi-resistor bridge assemblies where the vertical mounting profile of the radial Squaristor package reduces board space requirements compared with axially mounted alternatives of equivalent accuracy
Current and voltage measurement networks — shunt resistor arrays, Wheatstone bridge arms, and voltage divider chains where a 0.01% tolerance resistor ensures that the resistive element contributes negligible error to the overall measurement uncertainty budget
Feedback and control networks — op-amp gain-setting resistors, DAC output scaling networks, ADC reference dividers, and PID controller parameter resistors where the low TCR of the GG102 prevents gain error and offset drift across the operating temperature range of the equipment
High-stability voltage reference circuits — precision bandgap and zener reference networks where low-noise, low-TCR resistors in a compact package are required simultaneously, and where the balanced winding of the GG102 ensures that inductance does not introduce impedance errors at the frequencies present in reference circuit settling and transient response
Medical instrumentation — patient monitoring equipment, diagnostic analysers, infusion pumps, and precision biosignal conditioning circuits where resistance tolerance and long-term stability both contribute directly to clinical measurement accuracy and regulatory compliance
Audio precision measurement equipment — audio analyser input networks, THD measurement bridges, and impedance reference circuits where the ultra-low noise of wire wound construction is required alongside tight tolerance and stability across the audio measurement temperature range
Defence and aerospace electronics — avionics signal conditioning, guidance system reference networks, and mission-critical instrumentation requiring resistors that maintain specification from −55°C to +125°C without performance degradation over the operational service life
Industrial automation and process instrumentation — transmitter signal conditioning modules, sensor interface circuits, and process controller input networks where stable resistance across thousands of operating hours eliminates the need for periodic field recalibration
