The PR-24 is a 24mm single-turn rotary carbon potentiometer housed in a metal case, constructed with a carbon resistive track deposited on a resin-modified paper base. The 24mm body diameter represents the largest of the PR series panel potentiometers, offering the highest power dissipation rating in the range and a commanding panel presence suited to professional and semi-professional equipment where robust user controls are expected. The metal case ensures structural rigidity under repeated mechanical operation and provides a stable, corrosion-resistant mounting interface for standard panel cutouts.
Three resistance law profiles are available to suit different control applications. The linear (A) law spans 100Ω to 2.2MΩ using E3 preferred values, providing a uniform relationship between shaft rotation and output resistance across the full 300° ±10° travel arc. The logarithmic (B) and reverse logarithmic (C) laws both cover 1kΩ to 1MΩ, shaped to follow the logarithmic response of the human auditory system and to provide complementary inverse attenuation curves for audio routing, mixing, and level control circuits respectively.
The maximum power dissipation for the linear law version is 0.5W at 40°C ambient, the highest rating in the PR series, making the PR-24 suitable for applications where the potentiometer must handle meaningful signal power rather than purely low-level control voltages. Logarithmic and reverse logarithmic variants are rated at 0.25W. Dissipation derates from 100% at 40°C to 25% of rated power at 70°C. The maximum working voltage is 250V, with a DC insulation voltage of 350V and a pulse insulation rating of 2100V, confirming suitability for mains-referenced and higher-voltage professional equipment. Resistance tolerance is ±20% as standard for values up to 470kΩ and ±30% above, with tighter ±5% and ±10% options available on request.
The PR-24 is offered in four principal variants. The PR 246 is the standard single unit with a 6mm metal spindle and no switch. The PR 2461 s55 adds an integrated on/off switch rated at 250V/3A AC, a significantly higher switch rating than the smaller PR-18 series, reflecting the PR-24’s positioning in higher-power professional applications. The PR 2462 and PR 2462 s55 provide the same configurations with a 6mm plastic spindle for applications where shaft insulation or reduced rotational mass is preferred. Spindle end types P-1, P-5, and P-6 cover plain cylindrical, flatted, and knurled or D-profile formats in standard lengths from 16mm to 40mm, accommodating a broad range of knob types and panel depths.
