What are the GBR-380 Series Thick Film Heating Elements?

The GBR-380 series are thick film heating elements fabricated on a 96% alumina (Al₂O₃) ceramic substrate. The thick film process deposits a resistive layer directly onto the ceramic surface, producing an element that combines high power density with excellent thermal stability and mechanical robustness. The ceramic substrate provides low thermal mass, high dielectric strength, and a flat mounting surface that couples efficiently to an external heatsink, enabling continuous rated outputs of 75W, 80W, or 85W in a compact footprint.

Three resistance variants are available within the GBR-380/3 range, each calibrated to deliver its rated power from a 230V AC supply: 705.3Ω for the 75W rating, 661.2Ω for 80W, and 622.4Ω for 85W. All variants carry a tolerance of ±5% and a temperature coefficient of resistance of ±50 ppm/°C, ensuring that resistance drift over the operating temperature range remains small and power output stays close to the rated value. The maximum permissible element temperature is 280°C, which defines the upper thermal limit for both continuous and transient operating conditions.

A notable capability of the GBR-380 series is its pulse power rating of 300W for durations of up to 3 seconds when mounted on a heatsink. This transient overload capacity makes the element well suited to applications that require short-duration high-power bursts alongside lower steady-state dissipation, such as rapid warm-up cycles or inrush-energy absorption. Electrical connection is made through solder fields on the element surface, providing a compact and reliable termination method suitable for direct attachment of wires or PCB-based integration. The combination of high power density, tight TCR, ceramic substrate rigidity, and heatsink compatibility positions the GBR-380 series as a versatile building block for precision heating and high-power resistive applications.

Why Choose RARA Resistive Heaters

What sets RARA apart for engineers and procurement managers in industrial and automotive markets.

01
Three Technologies

Metal clad space heaters, PTC self-regulating elements, and thick film heaters — RARA covers every industrial heating requirement from a single ISO-certified supplier.
02
Wide Voltage Range

From 3V DC low-voltage PCB warmers to 240V AC panel space heaters — the GBR series and RSHT/RSH range cover virtually any supply voltage in industrial or building systems.
03
PTC Self-Regulation

PTC models (YB, GBR-603) are inherently self-limiting — no thermostat or controller required. As temperature rises, power draw automatically decreases, preventing overheating by design.
04
Global Track Record

Deployed by Siemens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell, and Hanwha in industrial panels and power systems across six continents — backed by ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certification.
