What are the GBR-601 Series Thick Film Heating Elements?

The GBR-601 series are thick film heating elements built on a 96% alumina (Al₂O₃) ceramic substrate, combining the thermal robustness of a ceramic-backed construction with the compact, high-power-density characteristics of thick film resistive technology. The resistive layer is deposited directly onto the ceramic surface using a thick film process, producing a flat, low-profile element that couples efficiently to an external heatsink through its flat mounting face. When mounted on a heatsink, the GBR-601 series supports continuous rated power in the range of 10W to 150W, with a 3-second pulse rating of 160W for applications that demand short bursts of elevated power.

A distinguishing feature of the GBR-601 series relative to other elements in the GBR range is its broad supply voltage compatibility, spanning 12V to 240V. This flexibility allows the same element family to be deployed across DC low-voltage systems, industrial 24V and 48V bus architectures, and full mains-voltage AC applications without requiring separate product lines. Standard catalogue configurations at 230V AC cover rated outputs of 45W, 60W, 75W, and 100W, with the resistance value of each variant selected to deliver its rated dissipation at the nominal supply voltage. Designs requiring other voltage and power combinations are supported on request, allowing the GBR-601 platform to be tailored to application-specific supply and thermal requirements.

The power tolerance of ±5% and a temperature coefficient of resistance of ±50 ppm/°C ensure that output remains stable and predictable across the operating temperature range, with resistance drift kept small even at elevated element temperatures. The maximum permissible element surface temperature is 300°C. Electrical connection is made through solder fields on the element surface, providing a compact and reliable termination method for wire attachment or integration into PCB and panel assemblies. In addition to their primary use as heating elements in custom heater assemblies and precise surface heating systems, the thick film construction and planar geometry make the GBR-601 series equally suitable as high-power resistors in circuits where a low-profile, heatsinkable dissipation element is required.

Why Choose RARA Resistive Heaters

What sets RARA apart for engineers and procurement managers in industrial and automotive markets.

01
Three Technologies

Metal clad space heaters, PTC self-regulating elements, and thick film heaters — RARA covers every industrial heating requirement from a single ISO-certified supplier.
02
Wide Voltage Range

From 3V DC low-voltage PCB warmers to 240V AC panel space heaters — the GBR series and RSHT/RSH range cover virtually any supply voltage in industrial or building systems.
03
PTC Self-Regulation

PTC models (YB, GBR-603) are inherently self-limiting — no thermostat or controller required. As temperature rises, power draw automatically decreases, preventing overheating by design.
04
Global Track Record

Deployed by Siemens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell, and Hanwha in industrial panels and power systems across six continents — backed by ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certification.
