What are the GBR-605 Series Thick Film Heating Elements?

The GBR-605 series are thick film heating elements fabricated on a 96% alumina (Al₂O₃) ceramic substrate, designed for high power density in a compact footprint while delivering two performance characteristics that set this series apart within the GBR family: an exceptionally low inductance of less than 3µH, and a maximum element temperature rating of 500°C. The resistive layer is deposited directly onto the ceramic surface using a thick film process, producing a flat, low-profile element that couples efficiently to a heatsink through its mounting face and supports continuous rated outputs from 5W to 60W, with a 2-second pulse rating of 100W.

The specified inductance of less than 3µH is a defining feature of the GBR-605 series and results directly from the planar geometry and non-inductive nature of the thick film resistive element. This makes the series particularly well suited to use as high-power resistors in high-frequency switching circuits, power electronics, and RF damping networks where even small parasitic inductance introduced by wirewound alternatives would cause impedance errors, voltage spikes, or oscillation. The same low-inductance characteristic that benefits resistive applications also ensures clean thermal response in precision heating duties where rapid power modulation is required.

The GBR-605 series accepts supply voltages from 12V to 240V, covering DC low-voltage systems and full mains-voltage AC without requiring separate product variants. Standard catalogue configurations at 230V AC provide rated outputs of 15W, 30W, 45W, and 60W, with other voltage and power combinations available on request for application-specific designs. All variants carry a power tolerance of ±5% and a temperature coefficient of resistance of ±50 ppm/°C, ensuring stable and predictable output across the operating range. The maximum permissible element temperature of 500°C is the highest in the GBR heater range, making the GBR-605 suitable for demanding high-temperature process and industrial heating applications where other elements would exceed their thermal limits. Electrical connection is via solder fields on the element surface.

Why Choose RARA Resistive Heaters

What sets RARA apart for engineers and procurement managers in industrial and automotive markets.

01
Three Technologies

Metal clad space heaters, PTC self-regulating elements, and thick film heaters — RARA covers every industrial heating requirement from a single ISO-certified supplier.
02
Wide Voltage Range

From 3V DC low-voltage PCB warmers to 240V AC panel space heaters — the GBR series and RSHT/RSH range cover virtually any supply voltage in industrial or building systems.
03
PTC Self-Regulation

PTC models (YB, GBR-603) are inherently self-limiting — no thermostat or controller required. As temperature rises, power draw automatically decreases, preventing overheating by design.
04
Global Track Record

Deployed by Siemens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell, and Hanwha in industrial panels and power systems across six continents — backed by ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certification.
