RSN2726 Square E-beam Welding Alloy Resistors

The RSN2726 is a square e-beam welding alloy resistor built from a manganese copper resistive body with pure copper electrodes, joined by electron-beam welding, and intended as a current-detection sensing element. It is offered in resistance values from 0.1mΩ to 0.3mΩ, with rated power of 12W for the 0.1-0.2mΩ values and 11W for the 0.3mΩ value at 70°C. The general specification table lists a temperature coefficient of resistance of ±150ppm/°C, while the construction notes describe the manganese copper material itself as low TCR, below 20ppm/°C. Tolerance options are ±0.5%, ±1% and ±5%. Parasitic inductance is held below 1nH and thermal EMF below 1μV/°C, and the operating temperature range extends from -55°C to +170°C. The part is RoHS compliant and AEC-Q200 qualified, offers high reliability, long-term stability and superb pulse load capability, and is supplied taped and reeled on 13-inch reels for 16mm tape.

What are the RSN2726 Square E-beam Welding Alloy Resistors?

The RSN2726 is a current-sensing resistor built from a manganese copper resistive body joined to pure copper electrodes by electron-beam welding, in a compact square-format package. The all-metal construction is finished with surface pickling and passivation treatment, giving the part resistance to vulcanization and strong weather resistance. Because the resistive element is a solid manganese copper alloy body rather than a wound or deposited element, the RSN2726 carries ultra-low parasitic inductance and a fast response, making it suited to high-frequency AC current detection in addition to DC current sensing, and it offers superb pulse load capability along with high reliability and long-term stability.

The RSN2726 is offered in two resistance groupings within a single manganese copper material option. Values from 0.1mΩ to 0.2mΩ are rated at 12W, and the 0.3mΩ value is rated at 11W, both at 70°C ambient. Tolerance is available in ±0.5%, ±1% or ±5%, and all variants share a parasitic inductance below 1nH, a thermal EMF of less than 1μV/°C over 0-100°C, and an operating temperature range of -55°C to +170°C. Rated power follows a derating curve that holds 100% of rated power up to 70°C ambient before linearly reducing to zero at 170°C.

Physically, the RSN2726 measures 6.95mm in length and 6.6mm in width across both resistance groupings. The 0.1-0.2mΩ values have a body height of 2.3mm and a thickness of 1.7mm, while the 0.3mΩ value has a body height of 2.1mm and a thickness of 1.5mm; both share a lead height of 0.5mm. The part is qualified to IEC60115-1 test methods covering temperature coefficient of resistance, solderability, short-time overload, resistance to soldering heat, high-temperature and humidity exposure, high-temperature storage, low-temperature load, temperature cycling and load life, and is AEC-Q200 qualified and RoHS compliant. Parts are supplied on 13-inch reels for 16mm tape, in quantities of 2,000 pieces per reel.

Applications of the RSN2726 Square E-beam Welding Alloy Resistor

Where RARA current sensing resistors are deployed in the field.

The RSN2726 as an ideal solution for current detection applications, and its ultra-low parasitic inductance and fast response make it specifically suited to high-frequency AC current detection as well as general DC current sensing.
The AEC-Q200 qualification indicates suitability for automotive electronics, and its high reliability, long-term stability and pulse-load capability are the type of specification generally sought in shunt-based current-sensing circuits, such as current feedback loops in motor drives and inverters and output current monitoring in power supplies, where accurate, stable measurement of current is required.
